TRAFFIC PATTERNS.
Traffic on Route 22 (Half Day Road) from I-94 to east of Route 43 (Waukegan Road) was switched to the newly constructed lanes on November 12, 2011 and will remain this way throughout the winter months.
The right turn lane on northbound Waukegan Road is now open.
Drainage work on the north side of Route 22 (Half Day Road) will continue until the end of next week, at which point, the contractor will shut down construction for the holidays. Drainage work will resume, weather permitting, during the week of January 9, 2012.
Work along IL 43 (Waukegan Road) has stopped for the season as the weather is no longer suitable to continue concrete paving.
LANDSCAPING AND ELECTRICAL WORK
Landscaping and electrical work will continue in Highland Park portion of the project and along the east side of IL 43 (Waukegan Road), weather permitting. Such work is anticipated to be completed by the end of next week (December 23, 2011). Upon completion of this work, Route 22 (Half Day Road) will be opened for two-lane traffic in each direction, from Ridge/Tennyson Roads to US 41.
After the holidays, periodic lane closures may be needed to complete the final electrical work at the intersections along this part of the project but will only be used as needed and on a temporary basis.
Bannockburn Green Retail Center
Access to Bannockburn Green from Route 22 (Half Day Road) has been restored. For the remainder of the project, access to the shopping area will be available from both Route 22 (Half Day Road) and Route 43 (Waukegan Road).
Motorists should pay close attention to the numerous Changeable Message Signs located on both Route 22 and Route 43 as the messages will be updated frequently as the specific dates become known.
Please continue to exercise caution, watch for workers, and expect long delays when traveling along Route 22 and their intersections.
